Multilevel converters have received serious attention on account of their capability high voltage operation, efficiency, and low electromagnetic interference. It has many advantages compared to conventional two-level inverters such as dc-link voltages, reduced harmonic distortion, fewer stresses, interferences. The multilevel been used for STATCOM widely it can improve the power rating compensator make suitable medium or high-voltage applications. While deploying STATCOMs, designer’s role is reduce number switching devices since, total losses are proportional devices. reduction in count also reduces size cost. In this paper, a five-level modified cascaded H-bridge inverter proposed mitigation harmonics. Modified Five-level CHB configuration most with lesser switches, give better performance resulting compact system. PQ theory-based controller developed control operation.
